What makes you a joyful mother-to-be?

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for all of the people who are offering their support and love. In addition to my partner, family and friends, I’ve been welcomed into a wonderful community of Moms who have made my experience exciting and fun! (My Mom Tribe). These women are very honest with me and share personal stories that help me feel more informed. They also encourage me to be brave and help me find resources to prepare for being a new Mom. I honestly feel like the luckiest woman in the world and that my little boy will be lucky too.

What do you like the most about being pregnant?

Pregnancy has been a fun and exciting learning experience. I enjoy watching my body change to make room for growing a new life. It’s fascinating! Every week I read about how he is developing and I try to interact with him. I like to eat different foods to see if he kicks, and I play different music for him because I know he can hear. (That’s why I love my Bola ball too!)

What do you find the hardest about pregnancy?

The hardest thing about pregnancy was my morning sickness. I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum and couldn’t get out of bed for 10 weeks. I also went to the hospital a couple of times and that was very scary. It was hard feeling like I couldn’t eat or nurture my baby the way I wanted to – I felt like I was already failing as a Mom. When it finally went away, I was even more grateful to feel healthy and now I take extra care to eat well and exercise.

What do you miss the most while pregnant?

Sushi!

What would you like your daughter / son to learn from you?

I hope my son learns to life live with joy and gratitude. I hope he takes advantage of every opportunity and makes the best of every situation, no matter how hard. I believe that being happy and hopeful is a choice we can make every day. The world is a difficult place but individuals make it ugly or beautiful.

What is your favorite moment of the day while pregnant?

My favorite moment of the day is in the evening when I lay on my side in bed before I fall asleep. My baby kicks a lot and I can see him moving! I gently tap him to see if he will play with me and sometimes he does.

What is your top tip for other pregnant women?

Make quiet time for yourself and meditate. We are so inundated with advice and information from doctors, friends and books that it can be overwhelming. Remember that your pregnancy is your own unique journey. Stay in touch with yourself and your body.

You are wearing an ILADO pregnancy necklace. Can you share your experience about it?

The wind chime sound is so soft and magical that it relaxes both the baby and me! If he is active and kicking, the Bola ball calms him down and puts him to sleep. Sometimes, he will tap my tummy in the exact spot where the ball touches my stomach and it’s very exciting. It is a beautiful way to interact with him now that he can hear and I love the mythology behind the necklace. I really do believe that he is surrounded by angels and I hope he always feels loved and protected.
